Into the fast (Google) gear

The cycle is indeed getting complete, from everything offline to everything on the web to getting the web offline – yes there is shift but essentially the same. The “Offline web” has been around as a buzz word for some time now, however Zimbra is the first popular app that I remember which allowed users to go in an offline mode.

Google Gears now allows developers create web applications that can run offline. Perhaps this is the beginning of mass consumption of the offline technology. Google makes it easy with excellent tutorial, if that is not enough there are more examples already floating around.

I am looking into how to best integrate the whole thing into the CakePHP framework
